National Mounted Warfare Museum

The National Mounted Warfare Foundation is building a world-class museum in the heart of Texas next to Fort Cavazos. This museum will honor our mounted soldiers and share the untold stories of their service to our nation. The National Mounted Warrior Museum (NMWM) will feature various immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and educational programs for visitors of all ages and bring history to life. Visitors will discover how mounted warfare has evolved through hearing personal stories from soldiers, learning about Fort Cavazos’ history, gaining insight through simulations, uncovering the military’s role in peacekeeping and disaster-relief missions, and much more. The NMWM will be a living testament to the mounted soldiers’ team efforts in defense of our country’s freedom throughout our nation’s history.

We are thrilled to have completed Phase I construction on the museum and anticipate opening our doors to visitors on November 8th, 2023 after the exhibits are installed. The U.S. Army has generously allowed us to build the museum on 17 acres near Fort Cavazos’ main gate, allowing easy access for visitors and military members.
